Dental Implants
Repairing Your Oral Health
When you are missing one or more teeth, it can have a serious effect on both your appearance and oral health. The spaces left by the missing teeth can lead to shifting of the surrounding teeth.
Thankfully, dental implants offer a solution to help restore the look and function of your smile.
When placed by a dentist, a dental implant will function like the root of a tooth, stimulating the jaw bone to help keep it strong and healthy. This can prevent further deterioration and help you speak and chew normally.
Dental implants serve as a stable support for a tooth replacement such as a dental crown, allowing you to enjoy a long-lasting, natural-looking smile.
The Importance of Replacing Missing Teeth
A missing tooth can cause the jaw bone in the affected area to deteriorate. This can cause facial collapse or impact your ability to eat and speak. It's essential to address a missing tooth to avoid further complications.
What is the Dental Implant Process?
The dental implant procedure requires a small titanium screw and a tooth replacement. The entire process for a dental implant is completed in two separate visits.
During your first visit, the dentist will surgically place the dental implant into your jawbone. The bone and tissue surrounding the implant will fuse to it during the healing process, creating a strong bond.
Once the implant is healed, you will return to our office where we will attach your tooth restoration. Depending on the number of implants, your restoration could be an individual crown, a bridge or a full denture.
When put together, the implant and restoration work to help give you a restored smile.
