Restoring a Healthy Smile

Damaged and missing teeth can impact your oral health, causing physical and cosmetic issues. This can include spacing issues, infections, and more. If you are missing one or more teeth, you may have a hard time speaking and eating. Thankfully, there are a couple of options available to fill in the gaps left by missing or damaged teeth.

Our dental team at KMA Dental can use crowns and bridges to help restore the natural function and appearance of your teeth. Our goal with restorative care is to repair damage to your teeth, address any structural problems that have occurred, and help give you a strong, healthy smile.

Are missing or damaged teeth causing you to hide your smile? Speak with our dentists today to learn more about how crowns and bridges can help give you a smile you can be proud of.

What are Dental Crowns?

Crowns are strong and can be made from a variety of materials, including porcelain and metal. They are made to look and feel just like your natural teeth. Dental crowns help strengthen and replace a broken tooth.

With proper care, including daily brushing and flossing as well as routine professional cleanings, crowns can last 10 years or longer.

The Dental Crown Process

The dentist will take an impression of the tooth. They will then send this to a lab, where they will create your custom restoration.

The dentist will first place a temporary crown while you wait for your custom restoration. This will help you to eat and use your mouth as usual. Your new crown should be ready in a week or two, and at this time you will visit us again to have it placed.

What are Dental Bridges?

A dental bridge is an artificial tooth replacement used to fill or 'bridge' the gap between missing teeth. This will typically be attached to the healthy teeth that are on either side of the gap to fill the space.

To keep your bridge in good shape, you will need to maintain a consistent oral hygiene routine. Along with keeping your natural teeth healthy, this care will help your bridge last for many years.

The Benefits of Dental Bridges

There are several potential benefits to using dental bridges, including:

  • Altering the appearance of your mouth and teeth
  • Adjusting your bite
  • Preventing teeth from shifting
  • Maintaining your facial shape
  • Helping improve oral function
